Alma Fuerte is a K–8 charter school in Altadena, California, serving a diverse community of students and families. The school is rooted in creativity and entrepreneurship, with a mission to nurture confidence, curiosity, and strength in every child.
In 2021, I partnered with Alma Fuerte to design their brand identity, creating a visual system that represents their values and vision. Soon after, I was invited to paint my first mural on campus, which led to an ongoing relationship with the school.
Earlier this year, Alma Fuerte was directly impacted by the California wildfires in Altadena, with many students and staff losing their homes. In the midst of this challenge, I developed a 23-page presentation that helped the school secure a critical charter renewal. I attended the board meeting where we won the vote and shortly after the big win, I painted my second mural. Since then I have continued to provide creative support that uplifts both staff and students. My work with Alma Fuerte is not only professional but also deeply personal, as the school community has become like family to me.
A Modern Brand Identity
The Alma Fuerte brand identity was designed to be professional, clean, and modern while reflecting the school’s entrepreneurial spirit. The system includes versatile logo variations and color options, giving the school flexibility to adapt the identity across different platforms, events, and communications. This balance of consistency and adaptability ensures the brand remains strong and recognizable in every setting.
